Our mission is to Prepare and Educate the Volunteer Community.

Founded in 2012, Sparta Fire & Rescue is a 100% volunteer fire department proudly serving the Sparta Valley community in Bell County, Texas. We cover approximately 11 square miles and respond to fire, medical, and rescue emergencies for a population of over 680 residents—with that number steadily growing as new development moves into our area.
Our department operates with a deep commitment to service, safety, and professionalism. As our community grows, so do we.

Apparatus & Fleet
We maintain a capable and versatile fleet that allows us to respond effectively to a wide range of emergencies:

Engine 71 – Primary structure response unit with a 750 gallon water supply
Tanker 71 – 1,300-gallon water tender for rural and non-hydrant zones
Brush 71 & Brush 72 – Wildland and off-road response, including a converted Humvee
Squad 71 – Used for medical calls, traffic control, and support
Chief & Command Units – Mobile incident command and supervision
Future Ladder Truck – In planning stages to meet our growing vertical rescue and fire suppression needs

Facilities & Expansion
We're in the middle of growing our station footprint to better serve the department and the community:
Interior Build-Out: Adding bunk rooms, training space, and storage areas within the main firehouse
New Admin Building: A separate administrative structure to handle logistics, meetings, and onboarding processes

Firefighter Training & Certification
We’ve modernized how we prepare our volunteers for the job. All new recruits train under IFSTA-based curriculum using Sparta Fire Academy’s custom scheduling model. In addition to following the SFFMA (State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association) certification path, we now prepare cadets for reciprocity with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) — opening up greater career and state-recognized opportunities for our members.
